Spanish Day July 2024
There was a buzz of excitement around school during our recent Spanish Day. Everyone came into school looking fantastic, it was an absolute delight to see the sea of red coming through the school gates, in the morning. The childen were enthralled by our visitors and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the cultural experiences and learning activities
that were on offer.
EYFS and Key Stage 1 children enjoyed taking part in some flamenco dancing.
The children looked at Spain on a world map and found out some facts about life in Spain. They also learned some Spanish vocab related to their topic, from one of our parents.
Year 3 and 4 children had a lesson from an MFL teacher from a local high school. They took part in role plays, bingo, games and learned lots of new vocab. She was impressed by their authentic accents, well done Year 3 and 4. They then went on to learn about a Spanish festival called La Tomatina.

Year 5 and 6 had a very exciting visitor: Sean came into school to give the children an insight into the role of an interpreter. The children were fascinated to hear how languages and interpreters play such a big part in the sporting and entertainment world. They also enjoyed listening to an interpretor speaking to a footballer through an ear piece, during a press conference. The year 5 class then went on to wow him with their knowledge of how to express their opinions about sports, in Spanish. It looks like we might even have a few children who could persue this career path in the future!

Viva Espana!
