Shakespeare

At Moorfield, we believe that studying Shakespeare’s plays can change your life. Every year we focus on a different play to unlock the potential in our pupils by developing life, language and theatre skills by building self confidence and enhancing life chances. Studying Shakespeare at primary school helps to level the playing field, providing equal access to Shakespeare for all ages. The texts allow the children to challenge and explore the relevance of Shakespeare’s work to our lives and the world today.

In addition, year 5 take part in an annual celebration of Shakespeare organised by a local network of schools. They participate in a drama workshop, creating, rehearsing and performing their own version of one of Shakespeare’s plays. The plays are performed at Norton Priory and then shared in school with parents and children.
